Volume: 750ml ml

The Caves Santa Marta Tawny Port is a young port, fermented in lagares (traditional stone tanks used for foot treading grapes) and aged in small wooden barrels to allow more oxidation. On the nose it offers a similar fruity aroma to young wine along with toasted nuts and a touch of leather from the barrel, followed by a delicious light creaminess on the palate. Caves Santa Marta is a cooperative formed back in 1959 by winegrowers in Santa Marta de Penaguião, right in the heart of the historic Douro wine region in northern Portugal. These days, the cooperative produces around six million litres of wine per annum and exports around the world. Its commitment to quality is reflected in its beautiful, highly accessible port wines, varying from ruby to vintage, and a fascinating selection of wines that showcase Portugal’s many unique varietals—or very familiar varietals that take on unique nuances arising from the Douro region’s unique terroir. The Caves Santa Marta Tawny Port is a pleasant introduction to the cooperative’s impressive range.
